Adding a new shared file

If you need to add a file that can be associated with more than one item, the file needs to be added as a shared file.

Note: Only ServiceDesk Operators can add shared files.

To add a shared file

  1. Open one of the items that the file needs associating to.

  2. Click Add Files icon on the toolbar.

  3. Select the Add a file to item xxx that can also be associated to another item option and click Next.

  4. A Tree view of shared file folders is displayed, along with a text area to enter a description of the file and a File Name field where you upload the file.

    Note: If you have permissions, you can create and delete file folders in the Tree view.
  5. Select a folder to store the uploaded file into and click Choose File to select the file to upload. You can also optionally enter a description for the file, this is displayed in the list of files on the item.

  6. Click Next. The file is uploaded to the NetSupport ServiceDesk Server and the file is associated to the open item.

  7. A summary page appears, displaying the details of the uploaded file.

  8. Click Finish. The File Upload window is closed and the item is saved.

Note: Files can also be added when creating a new item. Follow steps 2-8 when in the new item window.
