Import users
You can populate NetSupport ServiceDesk with user information by importing the data from a .CSV file or by synchronising NetSupport ServiceDesk with Active Directory.
To import users from a .CSV file
-
Select the Admin tab and click the Users icon in the toolbar.
-
Click the Import icon to open the Import User wizard.
-
Select the file that you want to import and click Next.
-
The next page displays a list of fields in the text file - match these to the user information fields in NetSupport ServiceDesk.
-
Click Next to start importing the users.
-
Once the import is complete, any users that could not be imported and any import errors can be viewed by clicking Next.
When importing from a text file, if the company and department names listed don't exist in the NetSupport ServiceDesk database, these fields are automatically created.
Active Directory synchronisation
-
Select the Admin tab and click the AD Sync icon in the toolbar.
-
Turn synchronisation on by checking Enabled.
-
Click Add and enter the appropriate domain, user name, password and any OUs you want to exclude (multiple OUs can be excluded by entering the values as a comma-separated list).
-
Repeat the process for any additional domains.
-
You can choose which data is taken from Active Directory for the name, department and company when creating a user or updating user details. Select the required option from the drop-down lists.
-
The service status shows the current status of the Active Directory service for each domain. To force the service to run, click Run Now.
On a daily basis, NetSupport ServiceDesk runs a service that checks the configured domains for users and adds or updates the details in the Users Tree.
